It's three hours minimum, four if Parley's Canyon is holding up traffic. It's the wrong way to start a trip and an even worse way to end one. The standard route is US-40 west out of Vernal, through Strawberry Reservoir and over Daniels Summit, into Heber, down through Park City, and onto I-80 west into Salt Lake. About 175 miles, 3–3.5 hours. We know exactly which Strawberry construction zones cost what kind of time, when the chains-required flag flies on Daniels in winter, and which Parley's lane keeps moving when the rest stops.
For early-morning departures we leave Vernal four hours before takeoff. For peak-traffic afternoons (Friday returns from SLC into a Uintah weekend) we add a buffer hour. We never run it tight on a flight where missing the gate means another full day.
Three hours of US-40 in your own car: white-knuckle, eyes-on-mirror, mind-on-the-meeting-you-haven't-prepped-for. Three hours in our cabin: laptop on, headphones in, two emails answered, a deck reviewed, a nap if you want one. Or if you're outbound for vacation: book in your lap, drink in your hand, the trip already started.
